My son and I brought Bear home from the SPCA in 2007. He was BIG. A beautiful Great Pyrenees who was found as a stray. We never knew his story of how he came to be wandering alone but often thought his personality showed pieces of that past. Bear was funny, loyal, loving, a barker, a digger and the best dog friend we could have asked for. He LOVED being outside, the colder the better. He loved walks, sniffing all the way and stopping for people who wanted to admire his handsomeness. In his prime he weighed 165 lbs. He grew old and a little lame, a little deaf and his eyes were not so good anymore. He would dance like a pup one day and limp along the next. I cannot believe he won’t be there to greet me when I come home. He ALWAYS got up and came to see us. He was a wonderful soul and he didn’t ask for anything but a little loving and company. Today he died in our backyard. I wish I had been with him. We are heartbroken.
