At the old house, my mother used to have an aide come and take care of her 3 days a week. Her name was Pauline and she was afraid of dogs. We had to crate DJ while Pauline took care of Mom. After a week, all we had to say to DJ was “Pauline is coming.” Hearing this, she would run in the crate and lay down, while Pauline walked in. After a few more visits from Pauline, we decided not to crate DJ. Pauline was a little hesitant at first, but then got used to DJ watching her while Pauline went about her routine. She was never afraid of DJ all the years she took care of mom, and she remarked how smart DJ was.
