In 2008 a friend of ours had adopted a dog from a pet rescue center. While he was there he saw pictures of this black reverse brindle boxer needing a home. He knew we had just lost our dog months ago and that we loved boxers. So he contacted us and told us about her. We jumped at the opportunity to adopt her and when I contacted the agency they told me her story. A man working maintenance down in the projects of Trenton had seen this dog chained to a tree for some time now. She was eating grass and sticks and no one was taking care of her. He took her home and contacted the agency trying to find her a new place to live. At the time she was 7 months old. With tears in my eyes I knew that we wanted her to be a part of our family. With three other families wanting her we were chosen as her new owners. That was a week before Christmas and what a wonderful Christmas present. From the moment she came to us she was full of excitement and joy. We instantly fell in love with her. She loved us unconditionally. She loved to play with her squeaky toy, ride in the car, go for walks to the park, play hide and seek with me and the kids and I taught her all kinds of tricks. She was a part of our family and will live deep in our hearts forever. She has crossed the rainbow bridge and now will be with all the dogs who have crossed before her. We miss her and love her very much! Goodbye Xena until we meet again.
